The Story of Your Success

Why a Copywriter Can Help Your Business Grow

I am going to tell you all a little story.  It might seem familiar to you.  It should be familiar, it is after all your story.

Friends and Family

You started making wonderful widgets.  This could be anything that you have created such as baked bread, little crafts for home, jewelry, woodworking projects, baked goods, pictures, soaps, or any other item that you make.  This is your story, so you know what your widget is.  Anyway you started giving these items to your family and friends as gifts.  After all, you like these people and wanted to do something special for them.  When they receive these gifts, they are truly amazed.  Words of praise come out of their mouths.  You mentally pat yourself on the back because you know that you did a great job and they truly loved your gifts.

Your aunt told her best friend about the widget that you gave her.  Your one friend can’t stop showing your widget to the people at the office.  Your uncle would like another one to display in his vacation home.  After a short time, your aunt asks if her best friend can get one.  Two people at your friend’s office want one.  Your uncle still wants one for his vacation home.  They are all willing to pay you because they recognize the time and talent that it takes to make these widgets.

Getting Paid

You figure out what a fair price is for your wonderful widgets and get to work making the wonderful widgets.  You give the widgets to the people at your friend’s office and to your aunt’s best friend.  Your uncle sends you a picture of your wonderful widget at his vacation home.  And true to their word, they all pay you.  As they brag to their friends, you find yourself getting more orders for wonderful widgets.

More Orders

You don’t mind.  It is fun making these widgets.  It is a fun hobby to do and you are making a little bit of money on the side.  The money is coming in handy.  It helps pay a bill.  It helps give you a little spending money for that family vacation.  Maybe even your family has gotten involved helping you make the wonderful widgets, and as a result you spend more quality time together.  It is at this point that you realize that you can start this as a side business.

Starting the Business

You talk to your friends and family.  They think that you are crazy, but are willing to support you.  After all, they really do like your wonderful widgets.  You start your Wonderful Widget business.  You continue to receive orders for your widgets.  You start spending more and more time working on your widgets.  It continues to be fun making these.  It is definitely way more fun than sitting in the meeting back at the office.  You start to think that maybe you might want to start doing this full time.  The money is not there to be able to replace your income, yet.

Frustrations

You start thinking of ways to help boost your business so that you can make that leap.  You build a website.  You get frustrated that it takes you a lot more time than you anticipated getting it up and running.  You start an Instagram page and a Facebook page for your business.  These are also taking more time than you had anticipated as you have to keep updating them.  You start an email campaign to try and get new customers.  You are just not getting the results that you had hoped, and are now spending more time trying to figure out why. Pretty soon you are spending more time on the marketing aspects and not enough time making the wonderful widgets.

Does it have to be this way? No!

Help Arrives

At this stage of your business, it might be worth it to hire a copywriter to help you. A copywriter is knowledgeable about the marketing tools that can help your business. Here are several ways that a copywriter can help your business.

  1. Website - A copywriter can enhance your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  They can create website pages, landing pages and product descriptions that can help you sell your products

  2. Blogs - A copywriter can write SEO enhanced blogs.  These allow you to be viewed by your customers as an expert in your field.  This gives you more trust in the minds of your customers.

  3. Email Sequences - A copywriter can write email sequences.  These will also help you gain trust with your customers and give them a call to action.

  4. Facebook Ads - A copywriter can write ads to help get your customers to buy your widgets instead of the widgets from someone else. Did you know that just one Facebook ad will not work? You often need at least five ads to be able to create a matrix to find out what would work best.

  5. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn Posts  - A copywriter can write content for these social media tools that helps engage your customers. They can also coordinate these posts with your other marketing strategies to help you get the best results.

Working With What You Know

You have decided that to make your Wonderful Widget business grow, it is best to go ahead and hire a copywriter. Instead of spending time on marketing, this will allow you to focus on what you know, making wonderful widgets.
