What a Copywriter Can Provide: Social Media Posts

Social Media Posts to Help Your Business Grow

This is the second in a several part series about the different types of services that copywriters can provide.  Each one of the services that a copywriter can provide can help your business grow in their own way.

In this part we will be focusing on Social Media Posts, everything from Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, Tik Tok and Pinterest, and others that I haven’t mentioned.  Social Media is so prevalent in our lives.  It will not be going away anytime soon.  As a business, you can take advantage of this and make these platforms work for you.

Social Media Posts can help your business grow by engaging your customer.  While you might think that it is posting content on social media to your customers, it is so much more than that.  There are different types of social media platforms.  Each platform has a different way to engage your customer.  Also the different platforms have different age audiences.  According to a 2021 Pew Research article, Facebook is the most popular among all ages.  Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik Tok are mainly used by adults under 30, while Linked In is used mainly by professionals.  It is important to know who you are going to connect with on these platforms.  Below I have listed the most popular different types of platforms.  Later I will break down the platforms and explain how each can help your business.

Different types of social media platforms

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • Linked In

  • Twitter

  • Pinterest

  • Snapchat

  • Tik Tok

Below, I go into depth and show what these platforms are and how they can help your business.

The Different Types of Social Media Platforms and What They Can Do for Your Business

  • Facebook - This platform is the one that most people are familiar with.  According to  Pew Research, 69% of US adults say that they have used Facebook. On Facebook, you can make posts, post videos and pictures and communicate with your friends and family.   Once your customers follow you, this tool has the ability to keep your customers engaged and interested in your business.  You can build your brand awareness by posting content on a re\gular basis.  Many businesses are using this platform to their advantage.  They can be able to let customers who follow them know of new offerings, special sales, updates on the business, or any special calendar updates.

  • Instagram - On Instagram, you post pictures and media and tag your pictures and video with hashtags to sort the pictures into different categories.  Followers can then post comments and forward these pictures and videos to their friends and followers.  Businesses can use this platform to post pictures of new products.  They can also let customers know of any special sales or calendar dates.  Instagram can be a way for companies to show their fun and playful side, bringing in a human element that their customers can connect with.  A connected customer is more likely to repeat their business with the company.

  • Linked In - This social media platform is very similar to Facebook in the way that it functions.  You can make posts, post videos, and post pictures in the same way that you can on Facebook.  The main difference is instead of connecting with friends and family, you are connecting with your professional contacts.  Facebook is the social network, where Linked In is more of a business networking site.  Reaching out to other similar businesses or colleagues can allow you to collaborate on ideas.  It will also allow you to  find out what is working in the market, or find out what is not working.

  • Twitter - This social media platform allows you to post short stories called Tweets to your followers.  When I say short, I mean it.  280 characters is the most allowed per Tweet.  As a business, you can still use this to your advantage.  You can tease an upcoming sale.  You can ask your customers a pointed question about what they would like to see in a service or offering that you provide.  Or you can let them know of any special calendar days coming up.

  • Pinterest - This platform allows users to post pictures and ideas which the followers can then pin to a folder and come back to later.  This platform might not be best for every type of business.  Businesses that can do well from posting on Pinterest are businesses in the DIY, crafting, interior design, home goods, furniture, and fashion niches.  A posting of a new product or line can give your customers ideas how to incorporate this into their own lives.  Decorating tips and ideas can help them see how the product can look in their home.  Fashion tips can help the customer see which items can pair together.  The demographic for this platform is women between the ages of 25 and 34.

  • Tik Tok - This platform allows users to post short videos which are shared with their friends and followers.  Most of these videos are for entertainment value.  Yet a business might be able to use this platform for posting quick videos demonstrating a product assembly.  They might offer a behind the scenes look at the operations of the business.  They could also show a video showing the fun or creative side of the business.  They can use the videos to show sneak peeks into business upgrades that will help your customers.

  • Snapchat - This platform allows users to take a quick picture or video and then send it to their contacts.  One thing about this platform versus other platforms is that the picture or video can be viewed by the user for up to ten seconds before it disappears from their phone.  A business might be able to use this to advertise a flash sale.  They could make a quick business announcement.  They could help with a customer service or product service question.  Another feature of this platform is the drawing feature.  This allows the user to draw on the picture that they take.  This can be useful for parts or service personnel to point out a specific area when the customer is trying to make repairs.

As you can see, there are many different types of social media platforms.  Each one can help your company in different ways.  How do you know which one is right for you?  Consulting with a professional copywriter can help.  They know the different types of social media platforms and can figure out the best platform to use for your business and target audience.  A professional copywriter can write these social media posts for you.  This takes the burden from you and allows you to focus on other aspects of your business.

As a business owner, you want your business to grow.  You need your customers to engage with your business so that they buy from you.  You also want them to let their friends and family know of your business so that they can buy from you too.  Social media posts can help you do that.

As a business owner, you watch your expenses.  Hiring a freelance copywriter might not seem like an expense that you can afford. It is an expense that you should consider.  The value that a freelance copywriter can provide to your business is well worth the cost.
